Rented 10th edition for graduate class. Shipping and physical quality of the book were great; return at end of semester was easy. However, after I began reading, I'd find places where I felt I was re-reading something. Initially, I just thought I needed to pay more attention (i.e., don't start reading at 11 at night); then I started going back over what I had read. There are places where the authors clearly repeat themselves a page or two later. There are places where the text is poorly constructed -- first-draft-and-never-reviewed kind of stuff. And then there are the places where the figure references in the text do not match the figure numbers on diagrams and charts. I quit reading the book after Chapter 5.The professor was as helpful and engaged as the book, so, for the most part, I could simply read a few little bits and answer the two questions that were required. I received a B in the class because I opted out of the final exam -- otherwise would have gotten an A.
The book was in great condition. Even though I ordered it for school, I actually found a good amount of interesting information between the pages.
Book fell apart within the first couple weeks of getting it. We’re renting it so hopefully we don’t get charged for a problem that wasn’t our fault.
The book came when promised. It is a great book with the class I am taking. It is a lot of reading, but seems to cover everything that it should.
The book served its purpose but I think its time to retire this one. I have still used the book all semester but have had to very carefully. When I received the book it was already in 2 different pieces. The cover and spine was completely separate from the book pages. Then the book pages were also in 2 pieces. Like I said, it served its purpose but in bad condition.
This book was required text for a class, so it wasn't exact leisure reading material. However it was pretty interesting as it took a legal and historical review of unions. I didn't feel that it had an agenda when presenting the materials like many textbooks do, it was unbiased, which is hard to do with such a controversial topic. Good luck in your class.
